Living in God’s Hand: The Revelations That Changed Everything for Me
What God showed me in a church service—and how it reshaped the way I see life, struggles, and His covering over us.
It was a bright, sunny day when God gave me revelations during a church service that truly impacted my life. When I went to church that Sunday, I had no idea what God had in store for me.
Events Leading to the Revelations
I remember being at home, in the living room, when I received a phone call from my 30 something year old daughter saying, "I did a self-breast exam and I feel a lump in my breast.” I’m sure we prayed.
We were proactive and immediately made a doctor’s appointment to have the lump evaluated. The thought of breast cancer came with tremendous stress and anxiety. Although my daughter had health insurance, the first group of doctors required high upfront payments at every visit which added more stress to the situation. My daughter’s husband (at that time) found another group of top rated doctors in the area who accepted her insurance without the high upfront payments. This relieved some of the stress and allowed us to focus on the treatment.
As the test results returned, the biopsy confirmed stage 1A breast cancer. The tumor was smaller than 2 cm and contained in the breast with no spread to the lymph nodes. We cried and we prayed. We were thankful for catching the cancer in its early stage.
The treatment plan was to remove the left breast, insert an implant and take a pill for a few years. Thank God, chemotherapy and radiation were not necessary.
Surgery proceeded, the left breast was removed followed by implant insertion. My daughter healed well and within a short period of time, she was able to return to normal activities. Within the year, there was a noticeable difference in her breasts. Her left breast was lower than her right with sagging of the implant. We followed up in the doctor's office where it was determined that the implant had ruptured and replacement was required.
(I failed to mention that we had reservations about the breast implant surgeon, but we continued with her services because we didn’t want to prolong the treatment process).
At this point, we consulted a new breast implant doctor. This surgeon really enjoys his job. It's very obvious because he gets excited about the possibilities of creating beautiful breasts and yes, we felt very confident that he would do the job right - and he did!
Life continued and things were going well until a yearly breast ultrasound showed a suspicious area in the upper part of the left breast. We were presented with possibilities that this area could be a suture, likely a benign mass and less likely malignancy. This area was thought to be a low risk for cancer, so we didn’t rush to have the biopsy.
My daughter was living in another state and needed to travel for treatments. On her next visit, she scheduled the biopsy. I usually attend all doctor appointments, but the day of the biopsy results, she was alone. The news was devastating! The biopsy returned positive for malignancy and the cancer was aggressive.
The nodule was located in the left breast area, just a little higher than the initial resection and located very close to the muscle. Surgery was required along with recommendations for chemotherapy and radiation.
We went through breast surgery number 3. We hoped and prayed that the surgery would not rupture the implant. God answered our prayers and the implant remained intact. My daughter tolerated the procedure well, but recovery from this surgery was more painful than the previous one because it involved the muscle.
Chemotherapy was part of the treatment plan, so a port was placed for access. Several rounds of chemotherapy were administered, including what’s called “red devil.” There were a few complications with this strong chemo regimen, but she rarely complained. Her hair began to fall out and she decided to shave her head. Our youngest daughter and grandson accompanied her to the barber shop for the haircut. My niece who lives in another state cut her hair low to show support and I added her shaved hair to my microlocs.
"Ringing the bell" is a celebratory event for patients at the cancer center when they complete chemotherapy. After 4 rounds of red devil chemotherapy and 12 rounds of Tamoxifen, my daughter rang the bell. Family members join us on a zoom call to witness clanging of the bell, clapping hands and congratulations from well-wishers in the vicinity.
My daughter has been cancer-free over a few years now. We are all grateful to God for her recovery. During her last cancer battle, she scheduled photoshoots to document her journey and celebrate the various stages of her life.

Lena is living her best life now. She hired a modeling agent and God has opened doors for her to pursue this venture. She has embraced her natural, God-given features and did not allow the effects of chemotherapy to slow her momentum. Her hair grew back quickly with a softer texture and it's beautiful. I am the #1 fan of this gorgeous, tall and shapely woman.
My daughter has appeared in a few commercials and fashion shows. Her schedule is pretty full and on the afternoon that I had this revelation, she went to Orlando for another audition. The following week, she traveled to Atlanta to participate in a production and on her return she is scheduled to be in a fashion show.
We have come a long way, and God has been with us on this journey every step of the way.
The Call
One Saturday evening, my daughter informed me of a phone call she received from her pastor asking if she planned to attend church the next day. She is a member of a large congregation and had never received a call from the pastor before. He was aware of her testimony and wanted her to participate in his illustrative sermon. Her part was to hold a sign that stated her test on one side and her testimony on the other. The sign would say something to the effect of “2X BREAST CANCER SURVIVOR” on front and on the back “CANCER FREE.” This church has 3 services on Sunday, so she agreed to participate in the first 2 services.
On that Sunday, I surprised my daughter and attended the second service at her church. As I entered the front doors, I immediately received a warm embrace from a beautiful, bright-eyed greeter with a big smile. To my surprise, it was my daughter! I was introduced as a special guest and escorted to my seat.
The sanctuary was dark and the stage was lit. There was a young man leading worship service and my daughter asked if I remembered him from the church we attended years ago in another state.
God Spoke to Me in Church
The pastor's sermon was well received by the congregation. As the service progressed, I noticed that a few people in front of me stood up from their seats and entered a side door. This was my daughter's signal, she too got up and went backstage to get ready for the presentation.
The pastor called this portion of the service “The Reveal.” The worship leader started to sing and the first participant went on stage and held up his sign. As he flipped the sign over, members in the congregation erupted in cheers and applause. The next person went on stage, raised their sign and again the congregation roared. Another person raised their sign and received the same celebratory response.
The worship leader began to sing “the devil meant it for evil, but God turned it around for your good.” At this point, my daughter walked on stage and raised her sign…the audience erupted in cheers and I began to cry. From that point on, I cried for about 15-20 minutes as the Holy Spirit spoke to my heart.
I understood the events over the last 6-7 years have been an attack of the enemy. Our daughter went through breast cancer twice and God brought her through twice! That's when I realized God was showing me that He had always protected us. He delivered us. He kept us safe and He healed our daughter!

This is what "the devil meant this for evil, but God turned it around for our good." With that revelation, I could not regain my composure and tears continued to stream down my face.
God Had More To Show Me
Our family and the praise team leader attended the same church in another state 15-20 years ago. This church is over 1000 miles away. The last time the three of us worshipped in the same sanctuary was over 20 years ago when this young man and my daughter were teenagers.
The church is FCOG. It was a great church with a wonderful pastor, first lady and ministry staff. The pastor has retired, but the three of us who are now living in Florida, are the fruit-bearing branches of that church. Seeds of life were planted in each of our hearts at FCOG. Those seeds are producing good fruit every time we share the word, share a testimony, and sing of God's goodness. Although we are miles away from the physical building, God's Word is still alive in us and has reached far beyond the four walls of that church. We love you FCOG.
God is so amazing! He literally set the stage to ensure that the three of us would convene in the same location at a predestined moment in time.
Through the praise team leader, God revealed to us that we had been in a battle. The enemy tried to take us out - but God didn't let him - God turned it around for our good!
Through this experience, I realized that God had truly been with us all the time, leading us, protecting us, keeping us, and helping us. Psalms 37:23 (NLT) tells us "The Lord directs the steps of the godly. He delights in every detail of their lives."
Yes! That Sunday, we saw fulfillment of this scripture. God had indeed directed our steps and planned every detail of this revelatory moment.
What This Revelation Meant
As I stood in the audience looking at the stage with tears streaming down my face, I saw my daughter testifying of God's goodness and the praise team leader worshipping God, my heart overflowed with joy. I was so grateful for God's constant presence in our lives.
In that moment, I had the revelation that we are living our lives inside a bubble in God's hand. The bubble is a huge, transparent circle that surrounds us wherever we go. It is private and personal, but expands and interconnects as necessary. Bubble expansion and interconnection is limitless and occurs whenever we engage in conversation with someone. Two bubbles become one - allowing us to interact and communicate - until the conversation or activity ends and we go our separate ways. At that point, we are alone in our individual bubbles, still in the protection of God’s hand. As we go throughout the day, our bubble interconnects and separates with each person we encounter.

The bubble is your personal life environment. The setting is irrelevant. Whether you’re in a doctor’s office, an airport or out to dinner - wherever you go - you are living life inside your bubble. We live our lives inside a controlled environment. We are protected. Nothing gets in and nothing goes out without God's approval.
No, our lives are not like robots, we still have free will. We make decisions and deal with the consequences of them, but all the while we are in God's hand.
God protects us. He shelters us. He guides us. He leads us. We go through everyday life just taking care of whatever it is we need to take care of. But all the time, God has us in His hand.
Psalm 37:23-24 (KJV) says, "The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down: for the Lord upholdeth him with His hand."
We are in God's hand. Yes, we face challenges. We may slip and fall. We may encounter sickness and disease, heartache and pain. But through it all, we must remember that God loves us, He cares for us and He will never put more on us than we can bear. Sometimes the weight may be heavy, or the challenge hard to overcome, but God has promised to uphold us with His strong hand.
Always remember this: You are living your life inside a bubble, in God's protective hand.
I recorded this testimony in the car immediately following the revelation—watch below.
